A second challenge gift of $5 million by Cotuit resident David Mugar has enabled Cape Cod Hospital to complete the buildout of the top two floors of its new five-story addition. The lobby floor and first two patient floors were dedicated this past October. Mr. Mugar earlier had made a record $5-million gift to kick-start the fund-raising drive for a structure known as the Marian G. and Stephen P. Mugar Building in honor of his parents. Total cost of the project is approximately $17 million. It will add 120 private rooms to the Hyannis hospital.
Cape Medical Supply, Inc. has announced the acquisition of Plymouth-based Helpful Home Medical. Nikolas Petravicz, who founded Helpful Home last year, will remain with the organization as an employee, Cape Medical Supply President/CEO Gary Sheehan said.

Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod and the Islands has received an $8,000 grant from the Caregiver Support Funding for Title III Grants under the Older Americans Act. The grant is administered through Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, Inc., and disbursements of up to $500 help family caregivers pay for Adult Day Care for family members of have Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. Dr. Nicholas Argy, formerly a staff radiologist at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and an adjunct assistant professor of Public Health at Boston University School of Medicine, has been named chairman of Radiology at Cape Cod Hospital.
