Steve Abbott, for 10 years president/CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare until his retirement last year, is back in the fold as interim president of the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation. Mr. Abbott will hold the fort until a replacement is found for Tom Mundell, who left to take a similar position at Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. The foundation post, which also includes a vice-presidency in the parent corporation, is expected to be filled following a nationwide search by the first of next year at the latest.
Jeanne Sarnosky, director of marketing, provider and community relations for the VNA of Cape Cod, has been honored with the Ron Jenner Producer of the Year award at the Cape Cod Community Media Center’s annual meeting in Yarmouth. The award recognized the work on the VNA of Cape Cod’s weekly educational television series, VNA Health Highlights. Also, Robert Abel, RN, a VNA Hospice team leader, is now officially certified in Case Management by both the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) and the National Academy of Certified Care Managers (NACCM). He also has been designated as a Professional Geriatric Care Manager by the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM).
Whitehall Estate in Hyannis has named Gail Bunnell as its new Memory Care Director, responsible for providing specialized care and activities to residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia through a program called “Join Their Journey”.

The Henry T. Wing Elementary School in Sandwich has been recognized by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports as one of three schools in Massachusetts to be designated a 2008-2009 State Champion. To earn the award, a school must have the highest percentage of students qualify for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in its enrollment category.
